Create a New Route Record

When changing long distance carriers, it is sometimes necessary to create a new route record to handle call traffic through the new carrier. It may instead be easier to Clone a Route Record.

To create a new route record, first, open the Route window by clicking on the Configuration button in either the Navigator or the Navbar and selecting Route Records from the pull-down menu that appears.

To create a new route record:

1. Click the New Record button.

2. In the window that appears, type a name for the route into the Enter Route Name: field.

3. Choose the Editing Type and the Route Type.

Simple Editing ñ Only three of the sections normally found in a Route Record are available: Route Type, Access Number, and Destination Number. The Destination Number section is equivalent to the Card/Destination Number of a Route Record, except that it has only one pull-down menu. A record created in Simple Editing mode can be changed to Advanced Editing at a later time by clicking the Change to Advanced Editing button.

Advanced Editing ñ Selecting this radio button will create a new record with all of the sections described in the Route Records help. A record in Advanced Editing mode can NOT be changed to Simple Editing.

Direct Route ñ Select this radio button to classify the record as a Direct route, to be used for all non-card Call Types.

Card Route ñ Select this radio button to classify the record as a Card route, to be used with all card Call Types.

4. Click OK.
