General (Options Records)

The General tab in the Options window is where the payphone is configured to report to Panorama. It is divided into three sections: Polling Setup, Phone Reporting, and communication.

To get to the General tab, select Options Records from the Configuration button in the Navigator or the Navbar to open the Options window. The Most Common tab is already selected when the Option window opens. Click on the Reporting & Polling tab; the General tab is the first tab displayed under the Reporting & Polling tab.

The General tab is within the Reporting & Polling tab in the Options window, and contains the following sections:

Polling Setup ñ Most of the time, the modem inside the phone will answer incoming calls after the number of rings specified in the Default Rings field. During the polling ìwindow,î however, it will ring the number of times specified in the Rings Inside Window field. The polling ìwindowî is a period of time, beginning at the time specified in the Window Starting Hour field and ending after the number of hours specified in the Window Length field. This is when the phone should be polled. The idea is to set the default number of rings fairly high so that the incoming calls can be picked up before the modem answers, and set the number of rings inside the ìwindowî low so that the modem picks up and polling occurs before a user lifts the handset. Also, the ìwindowî should be set for late-night/early-morning, to reduce the chances of interfering with an incoming call. The Drug Window can be used in conjunction with the polling window to limit late-night use of the phone.

Phone Reporting ñ Set the number the phone should call to reach the computer for reporting in the Reporting No field. Also set the Time of Day for the report, in 24-hour format (1:00 AM= 1, 1:00 PM = 13, Midnight = 0). The last two digits of the phone number determine the number of minutes after the hour specified that the phone will report. If the last two digits are greater than 59, 60 will be subtracted from them to determine the time (ex. 588-8792 will report at 32 minutes after the hour specified). The Number of Days Reporting field will set the phone to report every x number of days (0 = Disabled); the Day of Week Reporting field will set the phone to report every week on the x day (1 = Sunday, 7 = Saturday, 0 = Disabled); the Day of Month Reporting field will set the phone to report every month on the x day of the month (0 = Disabled). Setting the Cash Box Volume will set the phone to report when the coin level reaches x% full. Refer to the Peg Count/ Inactivity table to learn how to set this field to reach the desired results. The Number of Days Before Full field tells the phone to determine how many days will pass before the cash box is full, based on its current use, and call in x number of days before the box is full.

Note: If more than one field is set, then these reports will sometimes fall on the same day. Reporting will only occur once on that day, unless an Alarm or Flag is triggered after a poll or report, and that particular alarm or flag has been set to make the phone report.

Communications ñ Set the modem speed and check the box if the modem is a 1200 bps FSK modem.
