Flags

One of the advantages of using intelligent payphones is that they can diagnose themselves and submit ìflagsî to the owner to indicate the status of important payphone functions. The Flags tab lists all of the remaining status flags that are not in the Alarms tab. The flags include things like notifications of service activity, minor errors in the memory of the phone, and CDR memory full.

To get to the Flags tab, select Options Records from the Configuration button in the Navigator or the Navbar to open the Options window. The Most Common tab is already selected when the Options window opens. Click on the Reporting & Polling tab, then click on the Flags tab.

When a specific condition is met, a flag is triggered that indicates that condition. If the flagís checkbox is checked (in the Reporting & Polling tab of the Options window), then the phone will report the flag to the computer two-minutes after the flag is set. If the report is unsuccessful, the phone will try to report again in 2 hours, then again in 4 hours, then every 8 hours until the report is successful or until the phone is successfully polled. If the flag is not checked, then the phone will not report to the computer, but will still upload the set flag the next time the payphone is polled. Exceptions to this are noted when necessary. Following is a list of the two-letter flag codes and a short definition of what each one means:

146 ñ Enable Voice Error Messages: This option is actually found in the Alarms tab, in the Reporting & Polling tab, in the Options window. When checked, the phone will give voice error messages that are equivalent to the alarms and flags. After each flag description the voice code is listed.

Note: After some of the alarm descriptions, two numbers are listed. These are the voice error messages given when option 146, detailed above, is checked. At the bottom is a table for quick reference.

$E ñ Coin Total Error: An error was detected in the portion of RAM that maintains coin totals (Total To Date in the General tab, in the Phone window); coin total information uploaded from the phone may be incorrect. Poll the phone. If the flag does not reset, either the RAM on the chassis must be replaced, or the chassis itself must be repaired.

AE ñ Call Accounting Error: An error was detected in the portion of RAM that maintains call accounting information; any call accounting information uploaded from the phone may be incorrect. Poll the phone. If the flag does not reset, either the RAM on the chassis or the chassis itself must be repaired.

BE ñ Box Amount Error: An error was detected in the portion of RAM that maintains coin totals (Amount In Box in the General tab, in the Phone window); any coin total information uploaded from the phone may be incorrect. Poll the phone. If the flag does not reset, either RAM on the chassis or the chassis itself must be repaired.

CE ñ Billable CDR Error: An error was detected in the store & forward Call Detail Records; any CDR information uploaded from the phone may be incorrect. If the flag does not reset during the next communication, the chassis must be repaired.

CF ñ Billable CDR Full: Indicates that there have been 52 store & forward calls made since the last time the CDR information was uploaded during a poll or report. Store & forward calls will not be allowed from the payphone until this information has been uploaded. To upload CDR information, make sure the checkbox Collect Audit CDR is checked in the Polling Actions window. (1, 7)

CL ñ Billable CDR Limit Reached: The number of store & forward calls completed from the payphone is equal to the number specified in the Set Store and Forward Peg field, in the Options window, under the Store and Forward tab. Poll the payphone, making sure that the checkbox Collect Audit CDR is checked in the Polling Actions window. (1, 6)

E$ ñ Coin Box Emptied (*#1): If this flagís checkbox is checked, the flag will be reported in Panorama if the service person removes the coin box and enters *#1 (followed by the security code) on the keypad to make the payphone report to the computer and to zero the coin box totals. If a service person removes the coin box but does not enter *#1, the payphone will report automatically after a two-minute wait. A successful communication will reset the flag. If the checkbox is left empty, the flag will not show if a service person dials *#1, nor will the phone report automatically if the service person removes the coin box and does not dial *#1. (0, 0)

LA ñ Lower Alarm: When emptying or changing the coin box, if this flagís checkbox is checked, the phone will automatically report to the computer when the coin box is placed back inside the housing. Also, if 15 minutes pass without the coin box being put back inside the phone, it will report to the computer. (3, 6)

NE ñ Audit CDR Error: An error was detected in the non- store and forward Call Detail Records; the data may be incorrect. Contact your Distributor for assistance. If the flag does not reset, the chassis must be repaired.

NF ñ Audit CDR Full: The phone has reached the maximum number of CDR records for its memory (500).

OE ñ Overage Error: An error was detected in the ìoverage amount.î The reported difference between the amount charged to the user and the amount collected from the user may be incorrect. If the flag does not reset after polling the phone, the chassis RAM or the chassis itself may need to be repaired.

PC ñ Peg Count: The number of completed calls has reached the number specified in the Peg Count/Inactivity field. To find this field, open the Options window, click the Reporting & Polling tab, and click the General tab. Use the table to set this option as desired. (0, 3)

PR ñ Phone Repair (*#3): A service person entered *#3 to make the phone report and download costing and options data. If the download was unsuccessful, this flag will continue to be reported until the phone has successfully downloaded the data. If left unchecked, the flag will not show up in Panorama when the phone reports as a result of the *#3 service command. (0, 2)

SN ñ Silicon Serial Number: The payphone found a change in the electronic serial number of an add-on board, indicating installation, removal, replacement, or a poor connection.

ST ñ Status Check (*#2): A repair person entered *#2 on the payphoneís keypad to initiate a General Reporting Status report. This report uploads call data and updates cost and option data when changes have been made. (0, 1)

TE ñ Reset Coin Totalizer Error: An error was detected in the ìTotal to Dateî data that was reported by the phone. Poll the phone. If the flag does not reset, the RAM on the chassis or the chassis itself must be repaired.

TG ñ Trouble Gone: A previously reported relay jam has cleared itself. (4, 7)

TR ñ Time Report: When checked, the payphone reports to the computer during the phone reporting time. To set the Phone Reporting times, open the Options window, click the Reporting & Polling tab, and click the General tab. (2, 5)

VE ñ Coin Box Volume Error: An error was detected in the coin box volume percentage. Empty the coin box and dial *#1 on the keypad. If the flag does not reset, the chassis must be repaired.
