Status Flags

One of the advantages of using intelligent payphones is that they can diagnose themselves and submit ìflagsî to the owner to indicate the status of important payphone functions. When a specific condition is met, a flag is triggered that indicates that condition. If the flagís checkbox is checked (in the Reporting & Polling tab of the Options window), then the phone will report the flag to the computer two-minutes after the flag is set. If the report is unsuccessful, the phone will try to report again in 2 hours, then again in 4 hours, then every 8 hours until the report is successful or until the phone is successfully polled. If the flag is not checked, then the phone will not report to the computer, but will still upload the set flag the next time the payphone is polled. Exceptions to this are noted when necessary. Following is a list of the two-letter flag codes and a short definition of what each one means:

$E ñ Coin Total Error: An error was detected in the portion of RAM that maintains coin totals (Total To Date in the General tab, in the Phone window); coin total information uploaded from the phone may be incorrect. Poll the phone. If the flag does not reset, either the RAM on the chassis must be replaced, or the chassis itself must be repaired.

$F ñ Coin Box Full: The coin box volume has reached 100%. If the coin box is not emptied, a coin jam may result.

$V ñ Coin Box Volume Reached: The coin box has reached the volume set in the Preferences window. Empty the coin box.

AE ñ Call Accounting Error: An error was detected in the portion of RAM that maintains call accounting information; any call accounting information uploaded from the phone may be incorrect. Poll the phone. If the flag does not reset, either the RAM on the chassis or the chassis itself must be repaired.

BE ñ Box Amount Error: An error was detected in the portion of RAM that maintains coin totals (Amount In Box in the General tab, in the Phone window); any coin total information uploaded from the phone may be incorrect. Poll the phone. If the flag does not reset, either RAM on the chassis or the chassis itself must be repaired.

BG ñ Coin Control (Bad Ground): The phone has made four unsuccessful attempts to detect either a collect or a refund signal from the central office, possibly indicating that the phone is not grounded properly. When a refund or collect signal is detected, the flag resets.

BM ñ Box Missing: The coin box has been missing from the phone for at least 15 minutes.

BR ñ Box Removed: The coin box was removed from the phone.

CE ñ Billable CDR Error: An error was detected in the store & forward Call Detail Records; any CDR information uploaded from the phone may be incorrect. If the flag does not reset during the next communication, the chassis must be repaired.

CF ñ Billable CDR Full: Indicates that there have been 52 store & forward calls made since the last time the CDR information was uploaded during a poll or report. Store & forward calls will not be allowed from the payphone until this information has been uploaded. To upload CDR information, make sure the checkbox Collect Audit CDR is checked in the Polling Actions window.

CG ñ ECS (Electronic Coin Scanner) Gate Failure: An error was detected from the collect/refund gate in the Electronic Coin Scanner II. This may be caused by a jam, a failure in the coin gate circuit, or tampering. Replace the ECS II.

CL ñ Billable CDR Limit Reached: The number of store & forward calls completed from the payphone is equal to the number specified in the Set Store and Forward Peg field, in the Options window, under the Store and Forward tab. Poll the payphone, making sure that the checkbox Collect Audit CDR is checked in the Polling Actions window.

CR ñ Clock Reset: The date and time have been reset due to a power-on reset. The date and time are automatically set during a poll or report.

CT ñ Coin Total Fix: The payphoneís values for Totals to Date and Amount In Box have been changed by selecting Coin Total Fix in the Phone window.

DE ñ Chute Jam/Defective Trigger: The payphone did not see deposited coins on 10 consecutive attempts to process a call. When a coin call is completed, this flag resets.

DI ñ No Completed Calls: The handset was taken off-hook a certain number of times without completing a single call. Specify the number of times necessary to trigger the flag in the Peg Count/Inactivity setting. Open the Options window, click the Reporting & Polling tab, and click the General tab.

E$ ñ Coin Box Emptied (*#1): If this flagís checkbox is checked, the flag will be reported in Panorama if the service person removes the coin box and enters *#1 (followed by the security code) on the keypad to make the payphone report to the computer and to zero the coin box totals. If a service person removes the coin box but does not enter *#1, the payphone will report automatically after a two-minute wait. A successful communication will reset the flag. If the checkbox is left empty, the flag will not show if a service person dials *#1, nor will the phone report automatically if the service person removes the coin box and does not dial *#1.

EE ñ Download Error: The programming stored in EEPROM has corrupted. Replace the EEPROM chip(s).

HG ñ Handset Receiver Defective: The resistance in the handset circuit is not correct. The handset may be missing, defective, or improperly installed.

HO ñ Handset Left Off Hook: The handset was left off-hook for more than 15 minutes without activity. Check hookswitch operation.

LA ñ Lower Alarm: When emptying or changing the coin box, if this flagís checkbox is checked, the phone will automatically report to the computer when the coin box is placed back inside the housing. Also, if 15 minutes pass without the coin box being put back inside the phone, it will report to the computer.

LB ñ Low Battery: The payphoneís NiCad battery voltage is low and the battery has started charging. A recurring LB flag may indicate that the NiCad battery should be replaced, or that the line voltage or current is low.

LR ñ Loop reversed: The tip and ring wires are connected to the phone backwards.

ME ñ ECS (Electronic Coin Mechanism) Error: An Electronic Coin Scanner mechanism failure was detected. Check the ECS, the chassis, and the connection between them.

NE ñ Audit CDR Error: An error was detected in the non- store and forward Call Detail Records; the data may be incorrect. Contact your Distributor for assistance. If the flag does not reset, the chassis must be repaired.

NF ñ Audit CDR Full: The phone has reached the maximum number of CDR records for its memory (500).

OC ñ Opto-Coupler: There has been a collect/refund hardware failure in the payphone.

OE ñ Overage Error: An error was detected in the ìoverage amount.î The reported difference between the amount charged to the user and the amount collected from the user may be incorrect. If the flag does not reset after polling the phone, the chassis RAM or the chassis itself may need to be repaired.

PC ñ Peg Count: The number of completed calls has reached the number specified in the Peg Count/Inactivity field. To find this field, open the Options window, click the Reporting & Polling tab, and click the General tab. Use the table to set this option as desired.

PR ñ Phone Repair (*#3): A service person entered *#3 to make the phone report and download any and all needed data for operation. If the download was unsuccessful, this flag will continue to be reported until the phone has successfully downloaded the data. If left unchecked, the flag will not show up in Panorama when the phone reports as a result of the *#3 service command.

RC ñ Relay Collect: The escrow relay unsuccessfully tried to collect coins six times. There may be a coin jam or a relay malfunction.

RE ñ RAM Error: The RAM used to store cost and options data has shown an error. If, after polling the phone, the flag does not reset, the RAM on the chassis or the chassis itself must be repaired.

RJ ñ Relay Jam: The escrow relay was not able to perform the collect or refund function. There may be a coin jam or a relay malfunction.

RR ñ Relay Refund: The escrow relay unsuccessfully tried to refund coins six times. There may be a coin jam or a relay malfunction.

SN ñ Silicon Serial Number: The payphone found a change in the electronic serial number of an add-on board, indicating installation, removal, replacement, or a poor connection.

ST ñ Status Check (*#2): A repair person entered *#2 on the payphoneís keypad to initiate a General Reporting Status report. This report uploads call data and updates cost and option data when changes have been made.

SU ñ Signal Unit Defective: The phone detected a coin when there was no coin present. Either the signal unit is bad or there is moisture in it.

TE ñ Reset Coin Totalizer Error: An error was detected in the ìTotal to Dateî data that was reported by the phone. Poll the phone. If the flag does not reset, the RAM on the chassis or the chassis itself must be repaired.

TG ñ Trouble Gone: A previously reported relay jam has cleared itself.

TR ñ Time Report: When checked, the payphone reports to the computer during the phone reporting time. To set the Phone Reporting times, open the Options window, click the Reporting & Polling tab, and click the General tab.

VE ñ Coin Box Volume Error: An error was detected in the coin box volume percentage. Empty the coin box and dial *#1 on the keypad. If the flag does not reset, the chassis must be repaired.
