Phones (System) Preferences

The second Phones preference adjusts the contents of the Phone window. Here, the four User Definable Categories can be named and the coin calculations in the Phone window can be controlled.

To open the Preferences window, click the System Services button in the Navigator or Navbar and select Preferences from the pull-down list. Click on the second Phones book in the left column of the window.

Name the four User Defined Categories. When records are imported from ExpressNet, the Group and Ledger fields are imported into the Category 1 and Category 2 fields. These two fields may be named Group and Ledger to make the transition to Panorama easier and more intuitive, or they may be named anything else. In the client/server version of Panorama, if one of the clients changes the names of the User Defined Categories, the changes will be system-wide. All other client computers will show these names.

If the first field is named Group, and there are three groups (Malls, Gas Stations, and Fast Food) then each phone record may be assigned to any one of the three groups, or none at all. This is an easy organizational step that makes Global Editing extremely powerful and time-saving.

Communications Calculations settings determine the dates to use when calculating the Average per Day, described below. Set a specific number of days back (1 = yesterday), or use the date of the last time the coin box was emptied.

Panorama calculates the Box Full Calculations (Average Per Day, Coin Delta, and Box Volume) from the communication history. Set how many days before the coin box reaches a percent full. This will be used by all the phones to determine when a phone reports to the computer as a result of the $V Coin Box Volume Reached flag.

The Coin Delta is the difference in dollars between two consecutive polls.

The Average per Day is calculated by subtracting the Amount In Box of the most recent poll and the same field of a previous poll (as set in the Communications Calculations section) and then dividing the difference by the number of days between the two poll dates.

The Coin Delta and Average per Day calculations are used to determine if the recent daily earnings are significantly different than the Average per Day field, just below it. Differences might be indicative of many things; two of which might be calling patterns or problems with the phone.

The Coin Delta, Average per Day, and Box Volume fields appear in the Quick View window and the Phone window when selected here. They can each be shown for the Last Communication Only or for All Communications (within the range specified in the Box Full Calculations, above).
